Last SnowORIGINAL - EXHIBITION c. 12 x 20 inches Cards and prints available This pour looked just like a Welsh mountain scene, with a band of snow across the foreground. I had to put a few of those Dolgoch Falls trees in too in the distance. This one has a white wooden tray frame. | Otter CircleORIGINAL - SOLD 8 x 8 inches Cards and prints available This turquoise and gold swirly pour looked like water disturbed by a swimming otter - so here it is! Comes in a simple white wooden tray frame. |

Hunting FoxORIGINAL - AVAILABLE 12 x 12 inches Cards and prints available I painted this fox once before on a smaller canvas. I love his tail so much that I have given him a bigger landscape to hunt in. This one comes in a white wooden tray frame. | Hedgehog FamilyORIGINAL - AVAILABLE 8 x 8 inches Cards and prints available This is partner to another hedgehog I painted last year on a very autumnal pour. I checked when the babies were likely to be about, and early autumn is possible so I was able to add some more interesting fungi. This one comes in a dark brown textured wooden tray frame. |
Otter Pair (detail)ORIGINAL - SOLD c 9 x 11 inches Cards and prints available Here we have one wet and one dry otter. The pour created a mountain landscape, complete with a 'stream' in the foreground. Comes in a white wooden tray frame. | Field HareORIGINAL - SOLD 7.5 x 9.5 inches Cards and prints available This pour came out looking like a field with a crop of daisies in the foreground. It comes in a white frame. |
Harebell MoonORIGINAL - AVAILABLE 12 x 12 inches Cards and prints available This is my new hare painting for 2021. This time I have added some delicate harebells and white clover. The 'cloud' over the moon is silver in real life. He comes in a silver frame. | River Otter (detail)ORIGINAL - SOLD approx 6 x 10 inches Cards available I had to enhance the foreground to give the Otter a grassy mound to sit on. Comes in a white wooden frame. |
Harvest MoonORIGINAL - AVAILABLE 55 x 33 cm Cards and prints available This one has a realistic moon and a couple of silhouetted hares. Comes in a silver and black frame. | HedgehogORIGINAL - SOLD 8 x 8 inches Cards available This pour looked like dark undergrowth with golden leaves. I added some toadstools to bring some colour. Comes in a dark mahogany coloured wooden frame. |
Fallow DeerORIGINAL - AVAILABLE 27 x 16 cm Cards and prints available Another from the series using mica enriched pigments from the USA. I love the cell formation on this one, and thought the red of the deer's coat would make a striking contrast. It comes with a gold and black frame. | Forest DeerORIGINAL - AVAILABLE 27 x 16 cm Cards and prints available The forest background is made from a special mica enriched pigment. The painting comes in a gold and black frame. |
Moonstruck 3ORIGINAL - AVAILABLE Cards available 6 x 6 inches I painted this little hare a second time, but changed the colours and lighting a bit. I thought it made a very dramatic picture of a moon crazed hare on a wild and windy night. This one comes in a silver and black frame. | Flooded ValleyORIGINAL - AVAILABLE Approx 14 x 9.5 inches Cards and prints available I poured this canvas in sections to produce a landscape and was very happy with the result. It reminded me of the view across flooded fields towards the sea after the snow has melted. I added the distant hill to break the horizon, then the tree and hare to give it some perspective. It comes in a white frame. |
Brown HareORIGINAL - AVAILABLE 6 x 6 inches Cards and prints available This is another interesting swipe, black over gold and iridescent green. The patterns look like vegetation to frame an almost silhouette hare. He comes in a black frame. | Black HareORIGINAL - SOLD 6 x 6 inches Cards and prints available This striking background is made with mica enriched yellow swiped over with black. I thought a monochrome hare would suit it best. It comes in a black frame. |
OttersORIGINAL - SOLD 12 x 12 inches Cards and prints available This pour made me think of a waterfall. I could see some darker rocks in the foreground, so all it needed was a pair of damp otters ready to splash about. I took my inspiration for ferns and ivy from Dolgoch Falls, but I've never seen any otters there! This comes in a white frame. | Moonstruck 1ORIGINAL - SOLD 4.5 x 8.5 inches Cards and prints available This is another mica enriched background with a black swipe - this time in shades of blue and green. Originally I intended to make this one and its partner into underwater scenes, but I was suddenly inspired to make them into a pair of moon crazed hares. They both come in a silver frame. |
Moonstruck 2ORIGINAL - SOLD 4.5 x 8.5 inches Cards and prints available This is the second of a pair of moon crazed hares on a blue and green mica enriched background. This leveret has an especially alarmed expression. I like it so much I'm going to paint a bigger version. Comes in a silver frame. | Night FoxORIGINAL - SOLD 8 x 8 inches Cards and prints available This was a beautiful blue, green and gold pour which gave me a steep hillside and a foliage speckled sky. The fox is off hunting under a bright moon. This comes in a white frame. |
Frosty FoxORIGINAL - SOLD 8 x 8 inches Cards and prints available A nice cold looking frosty background with a little snow mound in front for the fox to sit on. There are some really interesting effects in the 'sky' in this one. All that appears yellow in the picture is actually metallic gold in the real painting. He comes in a grey blue frame. | Young HareORIGINAL - SOLD 30 x 60 cm Cards and prints available I had a tall thin linen canvas which inspired me to paint this tall, thin picture of a hare. I loved the subtle, natural colour of the linen, so painted a background which was very similar in colour and more subdued than my usual pours. I love the drama of this big (for me) painting and will definitely be doing more! |
Birch Tree StagORIGINAL - SOLD 5 x 5 inches Cards available This miniature pour looked like a birch tree forest with a golden sun behind. The tiny stag painting gave it focus. Comes with a white frame. | KingfisherORIGINAL - SOLD 6 x 6 inches Cards and prints available This pour with its rich greens, browns and gold made me think of riverside foliage. I added the kingfisher to make it complete. It comes with a mid brown stained wood frame |
Riverside OtterORIGINAL - SOLD 6 x 6 inches Cards available This was another small pour made with greens and browns. I accentuated the foliage behind the otter by darkening around the cells, and added some blue to suggest a river running by. This comes with a mid brown stained wood frame. | Spring HareORIGINAL - SOLD 27 x 16 cm Cards and prints available This is a mica rich pour embellished with a startled hare. He comes with a black frame. |
Evening HareORIGINAL - SOLD 10 x 14 inches Cards and prints available Another of my favourite hares, sitting in the moonlight with his crop of blue 'flowers' and dandelions. I enjoyed painting the tree silhouettes on this one. It comes with a silver frame. | Barn OwlORIGINAL - SOLD 6 x 6 inches Cards and prints available This pour is made from mica enriched shades of green pigment. The dark, forest-like shapes have been extended to provide bare branches against a full moon, and the owl flies overhead. This painting comes with a gold frame. |
SummerValleyHareORIGINAL - SOLD 18.5x10.5 inches Cards and prints available I spotted a landscape in this pour, and enhanced the horizon by changing all the original colours in the sky. Next I added the hare to add perspective. I love the way he appears to have just popped up, chewing on a blade of grass. | Winter StagORIGINAL - SOLD 6 x 6 inches Cards and prints available This pour had a beautiful winter look to it, almost like stained glass. It provides a beautiful background for this magnificent stag. |
ThreeHaresORIGINAL - SOLD 8 inch diameter canvas Cards and prints available This is my take on the ancient Three Hares symbol which apparently dates back to the Egyptians but appears in churches all over Europe. I added the celtic knotwork because they seemed to go together so well. The original is a framed circular canvas, but cards and prints are 'squared off' with the celtic corners shown here. | Moonlit HareORIGINAL - SOLD 12 x 12 inches Cards and prints available I tried to achieve a magical feeling with this moonlit hare, sitting amongst the patch of dandelion seed heads. I chose unusual blue shades for the poured landscape to add to the feeling of night. He comes in a silver frame. |
Fox and Mouse (Hide and Seek)ORIGINAL - SOLD 10 x 10 inches Cards and prints available I thought the golds and greens of this pour looked like a hedgerow. This made a wonderful setting for the little mouse hiding in his burrow, just out of sight of the hungry fox. I also added a big moon to light up the scene. This painting comes with a white wood frame. | WaterlilyORIGINAL - SOLD 6 x 6 inches Cards available This is the last in my dragonfly series. I have duplicated it here from the Insects category just so it doesn't get overlooked! A white frame is included. |
Mica DragonflyORIGINAL - SOLD 6 x 6 inches Cards available In this painting, I used Primary Elements from the USA as a background. These are pigments mixed with mica, which result in an amazing iridescent effect. The wings are also painted with iridescent paint to give a realistic shine. | Celtic HareORIGINAL - SOLD Oops, a bit too much reflection on this photo! This is one of my first forays into Celtic knotwork, thanks to Courtney Davis's source book. It worked well on this small pour, and I added gilding to the knots for extra interest. Very fiddly at this size! |
Celtic StagORIGINAL - SOLD 12 x 12 inches Cards and prints available This stag is the first in my new series using celtic knotwork. He had a very magnificent look about him, so I crowned him with a celtic circle. This painting comes with a wooden frame. | Hare in CloverORIGINAL - SOLD 12 x 12 inches Cards and prints available This is the fourth in my Hare series. I loved the effect of this pour and decided NOT to torch it - so there aren't many cells. It provided a mysterious backdrop for the hare and his crop of red clover. If you look closely, you can see what he is eating :) |
Dragonfly (Migrant Hawker)ORIGINAL - SOLD 6 x 6 inches Cards and prints available This is one of a series of dragonfly paintings where I am experimenting with iridescent paints to create realistic wing effects. | Norfolk HawkerORIGINAL - SOLD 6 x 6 inches This was my first dragonfly, but I've got a bit addicted to painting them since. I was experimenting with using iridescent paints in different colours on the wings, layered with white. |
HinterlandORIGINAL - SOLD 10 x 14 inches Cards and prints available This pour looked like a barren coastline with a storm coming in. I chose the Raven with his blues, purples and greens to blend in with his environment. If you look closely at the dead branch, there's the suggestion of another scary creature on the far right ;) | Valley HareORIGINAL - SOLD 12 x 12 inches Cards and prints available Hares are so popular! This pour was ideal for my latest. |
Morning HareORIGINAL - SOLD 10 x 10 inches Cards and prints available This was another pour which worked out so well as a background landscape. The gold in the sky looks like a shaft of morning sunshine. | Golden HareORIGINAL - SOLD 12 x 12 inches Cards and prints available This pour produced the most beautiful shiny gold and green background for my first hare. |
Fox Went Out on a Chilly NightORIGINAL - SOLD 12 x 12 inches Cards and prints available This was a lucky random pour which produced a tree, a snow covered hill, and a river in the foreground, all under a moonlit sky filled with ice crystals. It made me think of the Chilly Night in the old folk song, so I had to add the Fox! This painting comes with a copper frame. |
